Try these and if you don’t have any luck-call for our professional cleaning services.

  • Always treat stains as soon as possible. The longer the stain remains-the harder to remove.
  • Never rub or scrub-blot working from the outer edges of the stain toward the center.
  • Always test for color-fastness.
  • Don’t over saturate the carpet–Work slowly.
  • Always use white towels or white paper towels.

Candle Wax

Scrape off the surface wax with a dull knife.  Lay a white cotton towel over the area and press lightly with a warm (not hot) iron until all wax is removed.  Be careful not to melt the fibers with the iron.  Some colors, particularly red may leave a dye stain that is difficult or impossible to remove, which may require professional attention.

Chocolate – Cocoa – Egg – Milk – Vomit

Remove excess material by blotting up liquids with a clean towel and scraping up any solids with a dull knife.  Sponge lightly with cool water and blot several times.  Apply diluted Joy dishwashing soap (1 part soap to 4 parts water) with a towel, rinse thoroughly.  Let the area dry thoroughly, then vacuum.  Repeat if necessary.

Mud

Same as above only vacuum before applying the Joy soap.

Feces – Urine

Remove excess material by blotting up any liquid with a clean towel and scraping up any solids with a dull knife.  Sponge lightly with cool water and blot several times.  Wash area with a solution of 1 teaspoon  white vinegar and 1 teaspoon Joy dishwashing soap in quart of warm water.  Rinse and blot with clear water.  Let area dry thoroughly, then vacuum.  Repeat if necessary.

Grease

Remove excess material by blotting up liquids with a clean towel.  Apply spot cleaner such as Spotter 201 according to product directions.  Let the area dry, then vacuum.  Repeat if necessary.

Gum – Lipstick – Nail Polish – Tar – Ink (ballpoint pen)

Freeze the gum residue with ice cubes in a plastic bag.  Break or scrape off brittle gum.  Apply an acetone product-finger nail polish remover (be sure to test).
Clean with Joy dishwashing soap (1 part soap to 4 parts water) with a towel, rinse thoroughly.  Let area dry, then vacuum. Repeat if needed.

Mustard

Mix 1 teaspoon Joy dishwashing soap with a cup of lukewarm water.  Apply small amount solution with a clean towel.  Blot frequently and continue to apply and blot until the staining material is no longer transferred to the towel.  If stain remains, mix 1/3 cup white vinegar with 2/3 cup water.  Apply using the same technique.

Rust

Sponge with rubbing alcohol (or solution of alcohol & water) and blot quickly with a clean towel.  Repeat until no more stain is absorbed into the towel.

Blood

Apply Joy dishwashing soap (1 part soap to 4 parts water) rinse thoroughly, blot with towel.  Apply cool ammonia solution & blot. If stain remains, try hydrogen peroxide.

Paint (waterbased) wet

Work as quickly as possible so the paint does not dry.  Remove excess paint by blotting with a clean towel.  Sponge with cool water and blot several times.  Apply Joy dishwashing soap (1 teaspoon soap to 1 cup warm water) with a towel.  Rinse and repeat as many times as necessary to remove all the paint. Let dry thoroughly and vacuum.

Paint (oil based) wet

Work as quickly as possible so the paint does not dry.  Remove excess paint with a clean towel.  Carefully (after testing) apply turpentine or paint thinner and blot repeatedly.  Rinse, let dry and vacuum.
